Description: A Pondo woman sits in the ruins of her home, burned out during clashes between Zulus and Pondos. Thousands of Pondo people migrated to this region of Natal (now KwaZulu-Natal) from the Transkei in search of work. Many Zulus, threatened by this influx, resorted to violence against the newcomers, almost turning some shantytowns into war zones.
