The map indicates the Works Department boundary, Government House, existing barracks, proposed barracks, government, district and ordnance offices, the aqueduct, the Anapjis River, Das Poort, Kleynhans Farm, the botanical gardens, the gaol, the hospital, the brickfields, stone quarries, the race course, the flagstaff, beacons, the telegraph line, magazine and areas where cavalry could pass even where no roads existed, and farms (some with names), as well as open country, marshy areas and rough ground.
