Description
This street plan of Cape Town shows the central business district and the peri-urban and suburban areas of the city including the City Bowl area, the Atlantic Seaboard, the Southern Suburbs, the Northern Suburbs, the Cape Flats and the False Bay area. Included are Woodstock, Good Hope model village, Tiger Oats Township, Kensington, Windermere, Factreton, Epping plantation, Uitvlugt, Gatesville, Belgravia, Sanatorium Township, Pinelands and the Garden Cities site, Ndabeni, Hazendal, the proposed Bokmakirie Township, Goodwood, Langa, Welcome, Groote Schuur Estate, Kirstenbosch, Lotus River, Ronde Vlei, Zeekoe Vlei, Grassy Park, Strandfontein Coast Forest Reserve and Table Bay harbour., The map also shows municipalities, streets, buildings, erven with property numbers, "native locations", mountains, rivers and dams, salt pans, forested areas, sports and recreation grounds, Kenilworth Race Course, golf courses, aerodromes (including the air mail aerodrome site), schools, hospitals and sanatoria, churches, railway lines, railway stations, power stations, the zoo, lighthouses, cemeteries and burial grounds., Text in English and Afrikaans., Dimensions of the printed sheets: 97 x 67 cm., The library does not hold a printed set of the 1950 edition of this map. Digital copies of sheets AH-1BA, AH-1BB, AH-1BD, AH-1DB, AH-2AA, AH-2AC, BH-7DB, BH-7DD, BH-8CC and BH-8CC have been made available through the generosity of the Environmental Resource Management Department of the Cape Town City Council.
