Found on the eastern border of the Old Bushman Camp, the Tree of Family is of great importance to the ǂKhomani San community and was both a resting and meeting place for the community. Vegetation located just North West of Gemsbokplein in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, the ancestral home of ǂKhomani San. This open area was used as a hunting ground. This image was taken during one of the first data collection excursions into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Images from this period were key in building a strong foundation for the oral history and mapping processes in the early years of the Land Claim research process.
