The new R300,000 printing press which is to be installed in the Cape Times building in Burg Street. It is expected that it will be in operation before the end of the year. The new press is capable of producing a 32 page newspaper, four pages of which will take three superimposed colours, and four other pages which will take one superimposed colour. This picture was taken at Hoe & Crabtree's works in London where the press was assembled and test run prior to shipment.

Originated by Commodore Andrew McMurray, Progressive Federal Party candidate in Simon's Town in last year's election, the petition drew shoppers to the signing table in Fish Hoek on Saturday morning.
