- A Camel Thorn tree (Acacia Erioloba) located east of Gemsbokplein in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, the ancestral home of ǂKhomani San. This tree was used as a resting point for men on the hunt and women collecting berries in the area. This image was taken during one of the first data collection excursions into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Images from this period were key in building a strong foundation for the oral history and mapping processes in the early years of the Land Claim research process.

- Pits were originally dug for water but when these dry up, they are left uncovered and open to the elements, leaving a hole with an opening wide enough for children and young animals to fall into. Unfortunately, there have been incidences where children have fallen in and died.Karel "Vet Piet" Kleinman demonstrates the size and scale of one of the pits. Karel "Vet Piet" Kleinman was a skilled and well-known field ranger until his death in 2004. He was trained by Regopstaan Kruiper and was passing this ethnoecological knowledge on to a new generation of San trackers in a training project known as ||Uruke. Images from this trip document the first excursions into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and were a central part of the work on oral history and mapping in the first years of research.

- Facing North East of Gemsbokplein (towards Botswana), a large grey Camel Thorn tree (Acacia Erioloba) marks the area where ǂKhomani San women used to come to gather berries. These berries start appearing between October and November and are picked towards the end of December, around Christmas. The tree was occasionally also used as a resting and meeting place. This image was taken during one of the first data collection excursions into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Images from this period were key in building a strong foundation for the oral history and mapping processes in the early years of the Land Claim research process.

- This large Camel Thorn tree (Acacia Erioloba), is situated near the Old Bushman Camp near Twee Riverien in what became the Park warden's garden. It is here, under this tree, that |Una Rooi was born and marks the place where she and her sisters, grew up. This tree is, however, also a symbolic marker of what the San community lost when their homes and belongings were burnt and they were forced to leave the area.

- Jakob Malgas views the Tree of Healing, Tree of Family and Tree of Love from a nearby dune. The three trees, found on the outskirts of the Old Bushman Camp, form an integral part of the ǂKhomani San's cultural heritage and marks the location of births, graves and sites of great cultural significance.
