The expedition routes are marked in colour. The map indicates Bormu, Bagirmi, Waday, Darfor, and Fumbina or Adamaua. Topographical features include mountains, rivers and lakes, namely Lake Tsad [Chad] with its archipelago of islands occupied by the Bidduma ("an independent pagan tribe") and Lake Fittri. The map also shows the Bight of Biafra with a note about the Bati, "a pagan tribe of white colour and of beautiful shape, from whose country a very high mountain is seen to the S.W. said to be close to the sea. They live in houses of clay and wear around their loins an apron made of cotton"., Torn along fold lines into three pieces.
