-
Description
-
Visitors and tourists who delight in capturing with their cameras the many beauty spots of the "Incomplete Cape" will recognize this familiar scene view of Camps Bay and the Twelve Apostles, taken from the Glen. Two aspects, however, combining ancient and modern features, are depicted here. In the foreground is the old and famous Round House tearoom, built originally as a shooting box for Lord Charles Somerset. On the left is the ancient Round House Annexe - the feature of which as a Youth Hostel has been the subject of recent municipal discussion. The modern aspect lies in the middle distance where part of the amazing development of Camps Bay can be seen.

-
Description
-
Where people pray: Dockyard Church. The Dockyard Church at Simonstown is truly a sailors' church. It occupies half of the top story of the stone mast-house built by the Dutch East Indian Company, and was first used for divine worship by the Anglican community about 1801 during the first occupation of the Cape. The Dockyard Church of St. George at Simonstown is half of the upper room, or sail loft, of the old Dutch East Indian Company's mast-house. The small clock-tower bears the date 1815. The clock is balanced by three weights one of which weights 400lb. It is checked daily and, in spite of its age, only occasionally loses a few minutes.

Mellowed by its 80 years the Metropolitan Methodist Church in Greenmarket Square holds the secret of Cape Town's old bells which are thought to be in the church tower.
