In circa 2000 the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park was formally launched combining South Africa's Kalahari Gemsbok National Park and Botswana's Gemsbok National Park. The red dunes mark the former national and park boundary.Images from this trip document the first excursions into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and were a central part of the work on oral history and mapping in the first years of research.
