Description: The Green Point Common, once an open grazing ground for cattle, has been transformed in recent years to meet the recreational and sporting needs of Cape Town's growing population. This panoramic view, taken on Monday from Signal Hill, shows the maze of playing fields, club houses and access roads now laid out across the Common from Three Anchor Bay (on left) to the York Road traffic circle and tree-lined Metropolitan Golf Course (on right). Conspicuous landmarks are the building and tower of Christian Brothers' College, Green Point (bottom right), the oval Stadium on the common, and Robben Island in the distance.
