Description
-
An example of the office building accommodation available in Bellville's growing central business district district is this modern building society block. The Saambou National Building Society's new building in Bellville was officially opened this week by Dr C.F. Albertyn. In addition to the shopping space on the ground floor, there are seven floors of office space and the banking hall also provides for art exhibitions. Saambou now owns buildings in Bellville valued at more than R1 500 000. With office accommodation in big demand in the rapidly developing Tygeberg area, office blocks are going up all over. One of the latest and largest blocks is the Saambou National Building, opened towards the end of last year. This building offers shopping space on the ground floor and seven floors of office space.

Construction of Sanlamhof office block, Bellville, Cape Town
-
Subject
-

-
Description
-
Work ahead of schedule. Work on Bellville's biggest office block, Sanlamhof, is well ahead of schedule and when the contractors, Murray and Stewart, go on holiday they will have met all their deadlines to date. They moved on to the Sanlamhof site in June last year with two definite hand-over dates required of them. But Christmas last year they were asked to add a further (fourth) floor of 2000 sq m to the Sanlamhof block and by Christmas of this year to complete five further floors on top of the lower floors. In addition, they had to erect a 280 sq m service core (consisting of four lifts, toilets) to one side of the enlarged complex and to install the top half of a new central lift shaft so that it can eventually serve the new floors as well. All these deadlines will be met on schedule.
