The ǂKhomani San would travel to the bee hive once a year to collect honey. The San differentiate between two types of bees based on their size. It is the smaller one that stings. Dawid Kruiper was a traditional leader and healer. He was very politically active and was outspoken on a number of issues impacting San culture. This included speaking to the United Nations about the ǂKhomani San Land Claim and the theft of indigenous knowledge by international corporations. He died in 2012.
