In new of the Royal Visit, the old Mostert's Mill at Mowbray, a relic of the days of the Dutch East India Company, is undergoing a thorough renovation by the Public Works Department. This historic monument will soon be resplendent with posh plaster and brightly coloured woodwork.

Fourth generation of the Luden family, born and bred on Robben Island, is represented by the Luden twins, Clive and Graham, aged five and a half. Here they are on their way along the village main street to the post office to deliver a packet of sandwiches to their father, Mr Ian Luden, the postmaster. Mr Luden will be sorry to leave the island - he is an authority on its history. But he will be glad about the change for other reasons - there is no high school on the island. Children must go to boarding school or travel to and from school on the ferry.
