This was the big moment in the opening of Parliament ceremony today. As the Governor-General (Dr. E.G. Jansen) and Mrs Jansen arrive at the entrance gate the guard of honour presents arms, the 21-gun salute roars out across the city and the band strikes up "Die Stem". Dr. Jansen's aide de camp, Captain P. Roos, is at Mrs Jansen's side.

Having a test run before the cameras was commentator Mr Rufus Papenfus. With him (from left) are: Mr Noel Tilley, manager, professional television, SA Philips, Cape Town, Mr Dave Robinson, service foreman, and Mr Bill Myson, television engineer.

General Johann Coetzee, Pretoria, 1998. General Coetzee was Commissioner of Police in Pretoria between 1978 and 1985. He came to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) to seek amnesty for the bombing of the African National Congress (ANC) offices in London in 1982. When faced with evidence linking him to Ruth First and the Schoon deaths, General Coetzee refuted all knowledge of any involvement with any assassinations committed by any of his personnel while he served as Police Commissioner.
