Description
-
Where people pray: Dockyard Church. The Dockyard Church at Simonstown is truly a sailors' church. It occupies half of the top story of the stone mast-house built by the Dutch East Indian Company, and was first used for divine worship by the Anglican community about 1801 during the first occupation of the Cape. The Dockyard Church of St. George at Simonstown is half of the upper room, or sail loft, of the old Dutch East Indian Company's mast-house. The small clock-tower bears the date 1815. The clock is balanced by three weights one of which weights 400lb. It is checked daily and, in spite of its age, only occasionally loses a few minutes.

Description
-
Muizenberg pavilion opened: This was the opening day of the Muizenberg Pavilion on December 14, 1929. Built at a cost of some £200 000 it was destined to last only only about 40 years, for the demolition started on this building towards the end of 1970. This brick and stone building replaced the old wooden pavilion with its wooden-slatted promenade deck that served bathers and visitors alike to this most popular of South African beaches. This pavilion which was opened by the Cape Administrator of the time, Mr J.H. Conradie, consisted of three sections - the bathing cubicles, the tearoom-restauraunt and a theatre seating about 900.

Description
-
Mellowed by its 80 years the Metropolitan Methodist Church in Greenmarket Square holds the secret of Cape Town's old bells which are thought to be in the church tower. It is hoped that in the near future a long enough ladder will be obtained to enable someone to investigate their state and the possibility of ringing them again.
