KwaZulu-Natal. A vendor sells images of the various Shembe spiritual leaders, and in some having Isaiah Shembe alongside Moses and Christ. The Nazareth Baptist Church, or Shembe, is a staunchly traditionalist Zulu cult that was founded in 1913 by Isaiah Shembe after a vision. Their beliefs are a mix of Old and New Testament and the ancestral veneration of traditional Zulu culture.
