Description
-
The new constitution was unveiled with much pride and rejoicing. The image of the black sash folded over the constitution comes from a cartoon by Bob Connolly in the Rand Daily Mail, which portrayed the death of the constitution when the Nationalist government in a shameless act of political manoeuvring packed the Senate to end Coloured representation in Parliament. The Black Sash adopted this image as their symbol. Description provided by Tony Grogan.
