The following archaeological material was found: animal remains, hearths, ostrich egg shells beads and pieces and pottery. Flakes, pebbles and hammer stones were examples of the types of stone tools found. European artefacts such as clay pipes were found.

A panic-stricken passenger, fearing for his safety, jumps from a moving train as it approaches Nonkqubela railway station, shortly after it sliced through a pile of burning tyres placed on the railway line. Witnesses said the screams of terrified passengers could be heard some distance from the train as it entered the pall of black smoke.
