Description
Joint Monitoring Commission (JMC) members and South African Defence Force (SADF) Parabat commander, Colonel Archie Moore with Cuban and Angolan army counterparts at the withdrawal of SADF forces from southern Angola. Parabat is the 1st Parachute Battalion of the SADF. The JMC was created to oversee the withdrawal of the SADF from a portion of Angola's southern Cunene province and its re-occupation by the People's Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola (FAPLA). It was to ensure that neither SWAPO nor Cuban forces moved into this area as the SADF withdrew.
