Escaping the danger ... A panic-stricken passenger, fearing for his safety, jumps from a moving train as it approaches Nonkqubela railway station, shortly after it sliced through a pile of burning tyres placed on the railway line. Witnesses said the screams of terrified passengers could be heard some distance from the train as it entered the pall of black smoke.
